Dr. Eileen Boyle
Dr. Eileen Boyle is the Associate Medical Director for East Liberty Family Health Care Center. Married for 23 years to Dr. James Boyle, Eileen is mom to three children: Jimmy (21), Kristen (18), and Elizabeth (16).
Dr. Boyle became involved with the Center 22 years ago when she had to complete a four-year public health service obligation to repay her medical school loans. Most physicians leave such settings once the loans are paid off, but Dr. Boyle has been with us ever since! A highly organized detail person, Eileen has spearheaded the Center's implementation of electronic medical records, its diabetes quality improvement initiative, its use of the "Perfecting Patient Care" system, and the Center's recent shift to "Open Access" scheduling. She was named a Physician Champion in 2007 for her work in diabetes by the Jewish Healthcare Foundation. A perfect complement to founder Dr. David Hall, Eileen says that Dr. Hall establishes the vision while she finds the answers to how, where, when, and why. "I may not see the forest for the trees, but I get the trees lined up." She's the Center's "go to" person who sees herself as a catalyst for change.
Underneath Eileen's attention to quality and details is a deep compassion for every patient. She values and embodies the Center's relational approach to healthcare, where patients know and feel that they are genuinely cared for by doctors and staff. Dr. Boyle finds her enduring relationships with patients intrinsically rewarding. In addition to being their physician, she is their friend and counselor.
Because of Eileen's championing the Center's diabetes quality improvement initiative and her concern for racial disparities that exist in care for diabetics, Eileen has adopted a goal of $10,000 toward sustaining the Center's chronic care manager position-the keystone to excellent management of our diabetic patients' care.
