Ms. Jane Hollman

Jane_Hollman

Jane Hollman is a retired school teacher, the Co-Chair of Joyful Noise and a faithful supporter of the East Liberty Family Health Care Center. She taught English at Upper St. Clair High School for 36 years and served as yearbook advisor for 34 of those years. Since retirement Jane continues to teach a Shakespeare class to adults. Jane says that "having the opportunity to teach is a gift. If you love it, that makes it even better." In her spare time, she likes to cook (to the acclaim of her guests and co-committee members), play bridge, and watch sports. She also enjoys spending time with her nieces and nephews.

Jane has several connections to the Center. She first learned about the Center in 2001 through her friend, Stephen P. Paschall, Esq., who served on the Center's board. She began to hear people talk in her church about David Brewton (our Associate Executive Director) who had been her student 27 years prior. After being reunited by Mr. Paschall, Esq., Dave asked Jane to help with Joyful Noise and the editing process of our quarterly newsletter, "In the Center." A long-dormant friendship was re-kindled. In fact, one of the reasons Jane has been a leader in our annual event for more than seven years is that she considers everyone on the committee to have become a friend. Friendship is at the heart of who Jane is.

Jane believes that the Center provides services that are "unbelievably important" to the community. She is impressed with the quality of care and the genuine warmth of the staff. Jane is an advocate for many of the services offered by the Center. As a diabetic she understands the importance of diabetes care. She supports pediatrics because of her love for children. But the program of the Center that Jane is most supportive of is the Homebound Elderly Outreach Program. She sees our efforts as consistent with her understanding that providing care to the homebound elderly is more than just having a nurse stop by; it meets the needs of the whole person. Jane has set a goal of adopting homecare patients for an entire year at a total cost of $3,600.
